PRORA 2015: The poster prize of the Helmut Fischer Foundation went to two young scientists for their contribution to the development of modern energy storage media. The "Process-related X-ray analysis" conference, which traditionally brings together research institutions and industry to exchange expertise, took place for the eighth time from November 12-13.
The 8th "Process-oriented X-ray analytics" conference from 11-13 November 2015 was a great success. The importance of sensor technology and software development for modern industry in the context of Industry 4.0, including the associated high demands on data security, was very clearly demonstrated in the keynote speech by Dipl.-Ing. Carsten Pinnow. The already very close relationship between theoretical research and the industrial application of results from this field was made clear by the presentation by Dr. Simone Dill (Helmut-Fischer GmbH, Institute for Electronics and Measurement Technology) on the analysis of samples with an unknown matrix using an iterative fundamental parameter method. Corresponding measuring devices were then also shown in the exhibition.
The Helmut Fischer Poster Prize was awarded at this year's PRORA to Dr. Claudia Zech and Dr. Mathias Müller (Physikalische Technische Bundesanstalt) for X-ray analytical investigations on lithium-sulphur batteries. This research work makes an important contribution to the development of modern energy storage media.
