The Foundation's event with Wolfgang M. Heckl, Director General of the Deutsches Museum in Munich, was very well attended. His extremely entertaining and at the same time enormously informative lecture inspired the large audience

Sindelfingen. People at the headquarters of the Foundation and the Helmut Fischer company are interested in technical issues - they attended Wolfgang M. Heckl's lecture on the "Culture of Repair" in large numbers at the invitation of the Foundation and its sponsoring partner Volksbank Sindelfingen on October 12, 2016. At the Bürgerhaus Maichingen, the Director General of the Deutsches Museum spoke about the throwaway society and made a passionate and entertaining plea for the conservation of resources and the appreciation of craftsmanship and materials. When things are repaired, technology becomes tangible and connections become clear. Repairing is therefore an art with a win-win effect: for the environment, regional craftsmanship and the consumer-repairer himself. Wolfgang Heckl made this clear with many examples and anecdotes - such as his Bakelite hairdryer, which he bought at a flea market and made fit for the next 50 years with just the help of a new cable. Heckl has a fellow campaigner in donor Helmut Fischer, who was visibly delighted with the evening and also took to the microphone for a spontaneous closing speech.

Just how topical the subject is was also evident in the Q&A session with the audience and at the reception that followed: there was a long and extensive discussion - above all about ways and means of passing on enthusiasm for technology to future generations. Which brings us full circle, as the Helmut Fischer Foundation sees this as one of its most important tasks.
